Perdí La Luz, the project of Seattle-based DJ/producer Alfredo Lazaro, makes his highly anticipated debut on Akela Recordings with Body & Mind. This evocative release blends hypnotic, sweltering grooves with the raw energy of early 80s EBM and late 90s dance music. Drawing on his rich influences from Mexican powerhouse duo Década Dos, Düsseldorf EBM legends DAF & Liaisons Dangereuses, and Chicago house icons Larry Heard & Ron Hardy, Lazaro effortlessly bridges decades of underground sounds.

Body & Mind is a sonic journey that marries lush house elements with 90s basslines, creating a unique and immersive listening experience. The release also features remixes from some of the underground scene’s finest—Old Mic Odd, King Borbos, and Akela Recordings label honcho Annika Wolfe—each putting their own spin to Perdí La Luz’s distinctive sound. This release pulses with the timeless energy of classic dance music while embracing the dark, romantic essence of early wave and Italo.

Body & Mind is an exploration of movement, both physical and emotional—an album that demands attention and invites the listener to surrender.

Emerging from a remote past, AKELA RECS presents “Digital Escape” a compilation curated by label programmer Annika Wolfe. This collection introduces a diverse group of talented artists to the label, armed with 12 Electro-magnetic dance floor weapons designed to energize any crowd.  Akela Recs boss, Annika Wolfe, slams 2020 closed with Cold.Cruel.Force. Annika refines their sound while bearing an antagonistic, yet brisk attitude. The three-track EP shifts between Electro and Techno with deliberate percussion, assertive basslines and synths that tease you with traces of sensuality.
